Radius & Ulna Fracture

RADIUS & ULNA FRACTURE : The radius is a bone in your forearm aligned with the thumb. The ulna is the other bone in the arm aligned with the little finger. A radius & ulna fracture is the condition in which both these bones are broken. The bone ends become out of line and may be overlapping. Without an operation, a radius & ulna fracture might heal, but not in the correct position. The patient will not be able to turn your hand from palm up to palm down.

During a radius & ulna fracture correction procedure, two cuts are made, one on the underside of the forearm where the bone is just under the skin. The second cut is made on the inside of the arm. The bones will be moved into their correct position and fixed with steel plates and screws.
